Private Open Matches — Admin Guide
What is a Private Open Match?
A Private Open Match works similarly to a standard Open Match, with one key difference:
the match is restricted to selected players only.
Instead of being visible to all eligible players, the creator chooses exactly who can view and join the match.
How It Works (Player Perspective)
When creating a private open match, players can:
Invite individual players directly, or
Use a saved group (e.g. regular playing partners)
These groups are managed on the player side and can be reused, allowing players to quickly invite the same set of people to future matches.
Only invited players (or group members) can access the match.
Admin Responsibility
Private Open Matches are configured through the same area as standard Open Matches:
Settings → Policies → Open Match
Policies are still applied per location.
Policy Structure
Private Open Matches use the same types of policies as standard Open Matches, including:
Match creation lead time
Pending payment cutoff
Cancellation time window
Court booking trigger
However, the values for these policies can be configured differently for private matches.
This means:
Public Open Matches and Private Open Matches share the same policy structure
But each can have its own independent configuration
Key Takeaway
Private Open Matches introduce controlled access (invite-only) while allowing admins to define separate policy settings from public matches, even though the policy types themselves remain the same.
