Slot Wastage - How it Works

Restrict the Avoid Slot Wastage policy to a specific time window instead of applying it all day.

Written by Haris K

Overview

The Avoid Slot Wastage policy prevents bookings that would leave an unusable gap between reservations — for example, a booking that leaves an isolated 30-minute slot no one can realistically use. Previously, when this policy was enabled, it applied across the entire day. Clubs can now restrict it to a specific time range, giving more control over exactly when slot optimisation is enforced.

What's New: Avoid Wastage Active Hours

Admins can now define a Start Time and End Time for when the Avoid Slot Wastage policy should be active.

  • Within the selected window: the system continues to prevent bookings that would leave unusable gaps between slots, exactly as before.

  • Outside the selected window: bookings are not checked for unbookable gaps, allowing maximum slot availability during those hours.

Why It Matters

Some clubs only need to guard against wasted slots during their busiest hours, while allowing more flexible booking patterns during quieter, off-peak times. This update lets you fine-tune the policy to match your club's actual usage patterns, rather than applying one single rule across the whole day.

Example: A club sets Avoid Wastage Active Hours from 5 PM to 10 PM, its peak period. During those hours, bookings that would leave awkward unusable gaps are blocked as usual. Before 5 PM and after 10 PM, when demand is lower and gaps are less likely to matter, players have full flexibility to book however suits them.

How to Access

Go to Settings → Policies → Avoid Slot Wastage, set the policy to Yes, then configure the Start Time and End Time under Slot Wastage Active Hours.
